The Double eagle and the terrible idea the government made.

Coins-United States | Eriknation

The double eagle coin is worth twenty dollars today if you were to spend it today, but don't they could be very valuable. It was designed by Augustus St. Gaudens he designed both the obverse and reverse of the coins which were minted between 1907 and 1933. And is now considered the most beautiful coin in the world. The coin contained ninety percent gold and ten percent copper alloy. So that means that the gold inside by itself could already be worth lots of money. There are four different types of the coin the ultra-high relief, high relief, no motto, and the one with the motto. There is also a coin that is a 1907 ultra-high relief double eagle coin that has a plain edge and only one is known in existent. Now here is another fact President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared that the 1933 double eagle was illegal to own. And after some fights with the U.S government, it was sold for nearly eight million dollars! that makes it the second most valuable coin in the U.S the 1794 silver plug dollar being the most expensive. This coin is also very collectible because of its bullion value and historical value. But, sadly the designer died in 1907 just when the coin was released.

Two-Cent Piece and Three cent Nickels

Coins-United States | Eriknation

The act of April 22, 1864, which changed the weight and composition of the cent, included a provision for a bronze two cent piece. Which is basically 95 percent copper and 5 percent tin which is called bronze alloy. This happened because on Dec. 8, 1863 because the mint director James Pollock decided to make the two- cent piece. They called the two-cent piece French Bronze. The person who designed the coin was Jaime Hernandez. The first coin to actually have the In God We Trust motto was in the 1864 two cent piece. There is a small and large motto for the two cent piece. Some examples of the proof 1864 small motto piece could be worth more than 20,000 dollars! Many people own these types of coins from different years, which are definitely worth over 20 dollars. All of these coins were minted from Philadelphia. There is even a 1867 DDO (Double Die Obverse). The Doubling is very easy to spot and there are probably no more than a few hundred. There is also a 1863 two-cent piece pattern coin which is pretty cool. The obverse is a shield with plants growing around it. The reverse has a wreath and has the words United States Of America.
