MONEY BIG AND BOLD!
There are many types of Ike dollars including proofs, mint sets, bicentennial year Ike dollar, toning and more! Proofs are coins with special finishes and are not released in circulation. There are also silver proofs which are made out of ninety percent silver! Some coins have artificial toning and some are naturally toned! There are also mint sets for the Ike dollar which were sold in blue seals with information about the Ike dollar. The bicentennial year celebrates the landing of Apollo 11 with an eagle on it. Shoutout to all the Apollo 11 crew! The designer for the bicentennial reverse was Dennis R. Williams, he also won a $5,000 cash reward! There are also many error coins like the no S mint mark proof.
Ike dollars have lots of names like the eisenhower dollar, and even the big dollar because of its great size! Now let's dive into the facts of the ike dollar. The ike dollar was minted between 1971 and 1978, the eisenhower dollar was cancelled later because people were disappointed by its huge size. People couldn’t even hold four or five in their pocket! On the obverse of the coin is our 34th President Dwight David Eisenhower and on the reverse is an eagle landing on the moon. Dwight David Eisenhower was a great man and did many things to make America Great! Bit, sadly he died in 1969 😢. The designer was Frank Gasparro who made the metal composition was 25 percent copper and 75 percent nickel clad. But silver proofs for the ike dollar were made of forty percent silver and sixty percent copper. Coins like these can be worth about two or three dollars in a mint seal. While silver proofs can be around ten dollar because of bullion value. Bullion means the value for precious metal in a coin by weight. The No S proof ike dollar can be worth millions of dollars maybe! Here is a fun fact: It was mere minutes before the president signed a form to release ike dollars into circulation. If it wasn’t signed then the Eisenhower wouldn’t have been in circulation!
As I promised I am also going to write about SBA (Susan B. Anthony) dollars!
SBA dollars were minted from 1979 to 1999, on the obverse was Susan B. Anthony and on the reverse there was an eagle landing on the moon. Susan B. Anthony was a woman who spoke and protested for equal rights she accomplished her goal very peacefully. Now, all women and all men have equal rights, thanks to Susan B. Anthony! There was twenty-five percent nickel and 75 percent copper in the coin. They were minted from Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco made proofs. You can easily find these coins in circulation, but proofs are worth a couple bucks. The 1979 wide rim SBA dollar is rare because it is an error worth like 50 bucks. The proof type 2 coin is very rare and in sealed condition it is worth about 60 dollars.
Hope everyone had a great NCW! - Eric

The Susan B's are creeping up on my radar. I have all of them in the mint and proof sets, so an album is under consideration once I finish with the Indian Head nickels (Buffalo).

There's nothing like spending SBA dollars at the drive through and seeing the reactions of the cashiers!

I like Ike's, but definitely not SBA's... The design looks just bad... My opinion... ; )

I'm a fan of the Ike's not the SBE. That series was a disaster. I reckon the mint tried to make a dollar coin that was the size of a quarter and with a, shall I say, unattractive design. This was meant to get the public to want a dollar coin. Fail! My opinion. Good read. Thanks.

Silver they would of sold very fast!! Some dollars are very underrated. It's not a big set. I like them and did the set with the blue and brown. The S.B.A. If made of silver would be sold.out!!

Too bad they never made clad silver SBAs, that might have been worth collecting.
