2015 United States Marshals Service 225 Anniversary

Coins | Longstrider

Well I was going through some of our coins the other day, something we all need to do from time to time, and I ran into my Marshals Service 225th Anniversary Silver Dollar.  I hadn't put it up yet. It's from 2015. That's why I need to go through them more often. Anyway I purchased this one direct from the mint. I don't usually buy a lot of modern commemorative but I really liked the design on this one. Besides being a very nice design the coin celebrates the 225th anniversary of the U.S. Marshals Service. The first federal law enforcement agency in the United States. I won't go into everything that is engraved on the coins as I believe one can read them from the photos. The obverse was designed by Richard masters and engraved by Charles Vickers. The reverse was designed by Frank Morris and designed by Joseph Menna. It's made with 90% silver in a proof finish. With a diameter of 38.10 mm and a weight of 26.73 grams it's a nice coin to remember the old west. It has a nice heft and feel good in the hand. It was minted in Philadelphia. There were only 500,000 minted across all options available. Thanks for looking and I look forward to your comments.

MONEDAS HISTORICAS IBEROAMERICANAS

Coins-World | Longstrider

Below I have a great 2010 Mexican commemorative silver coin. It is eighth in the series that roughly translates as "the money history of Latin America." This coin is dated 2010 but was not released until 2011. Minted in the famous mint at Mexico City, it is released by the Banco de Mexico. The obverse has the Mexican Coat of Arms completely encircled by the coat of arms of Argentina, Cuba, Spain, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Portugal. The reverse depicts both the obverse and reverse of the famous 1910 Caballito coin superimposed over an antique map of the world know as the "Carta Marina Nuova Tavala". This map is famous partly for being one of the earliest maps showing California's peninsula. The web of lines are the famous sea ports of Mexico and Latin America.

100th Anniversary of the National Park Service 2016 $5 Gold Uncirculated Coin

Coins | Longstrider

I just placed my online order for the National Parks gold Commemorative coin from the US Mint. After all the problems and complaints the mint has received in its recent releases I am happy to say this was a "no problem experience". I was in and out in two minutes. I know! Hard to believe but the entire order from sign in to completion, took 2 minutes! I hope they can keep this up. I don't purchase a lot from our mint, but I do some ordering and this was a pleasant surprise. It looks like now is the time to order. Or you can go to eBay and pay about $100 more!!! I should have said I wrote this blog 20 minutes after the Mint made this coin available.

2015 United States Marshals Service 225 Anniversary

Coins | Longstrider

Here are some pictures of an anniversary gift my wife gave me. Kind of fitting as they are for the 225 anniversary of the U.S. Marshals Service. The first one is a 2015 One Dollar Silver Proof. Included is the OGP, Original Government Packaging. The next coin is the Proof Clad Half Dollar in the same Commemorative Program. Also with the OGP. I really like cowboy coins! Goes well with Carson City Morgan Silver Dollars.
