Mega Red 6th Edition !!

Library | Mike

Well yesterday I received my copy of Mega Red.. I have them all since they started. I always find it fascinating the amount of articles they get into this book as well as the pictures and all our coinage. Now I have only a chance to glance at it for a few minutes. But I found out some prices on items that I'm glad I listened to a good friend of mine. He said Mike I will be able to buy the set of W quarters for 11.00. Well he wasn't far of. In a recent blog I said I had found three last year. I have to tell this. I was in the hospital last year and a young girl came by and asked if I would like a.danish. I said thank you how much she replied .75 cents. She put the change in the table. It was San Antonio W!!!! And it lit up the room. I did send it in and received a MS 67. A great price in the book.
Now I said all along this program would fail. Not only finding them but prices. That was it. I sent one to my friend so I have a raw one and a slabed one. It's good to listen to friends. They were charging crazy prices for free coins.. I want to thank my friend for telling me to wait. I actually thought they would be higher. There are reasonable but only in ms 66 to 68. Very few 68. And the cost of sending them. In. But in also say if you want it go for it. We do buy what we like nothing wrong with that..
I'm not going over every price. This year the did the half dollar. I will be looking closely at them.I like the half dollar.. They have the so-called called.dollars. That looks interesting. But I was waiting for the half dollars all types and it looks like they didn't let me down.. There is nothing wrong with the regular Red book it has all the coins and references we need. You can take it to shows . I wouldn't recommend carrying the Mega Red anywhere. Both have there good points.. This years book has 1507 pages. That's allot. But I think it's worth it. I will compare last year's prices to this years. That's either fun or depressing. I hope for all its fun. I'm sure they will have some articles in looking for. I believe there are less this year simply because of the amount of half dollars that were made in the different series. I have enjoyed each one. Not because of prices but the information in it. Knowledge is power. Some of these coins I know some yns haven't seen them. Those who bought them will be surprised.

If there is one thing I can say about the book. Read the articles in the beginning and the end. Those are always loaded with information. It has every commen and every set put out by the mint. I enjoy that also. For a.quick reference there is no book better . Both of them. The difference is the Mega does a whole section on a coin . This year the half and more atricles. That's the only difference between the two. I would shop around for this. Some places charge 49.00 some charge less like 39.00. To sum it up I will be busy checking some prices and reading the articles I can't stress that enough. .So enjoy whatever one you want there both great. The previous ones I don't know I might bring them to a library or keep two. They love to get them. Thanks to another friend on the site. Well good reading I hope you all so well. Thanks. I think I wrote my first book review! Thanks stay well. Mike.

Hey I think I'm confused about the Red Book edition. I spoke incorrectly. I have the Red Book Deluxe edition, but it doesn't say Mega.... Can you educate me on the difference?

First year was the Deluxe Edition of the Red Book. It did not have a special section on any coins. The following year we have The Mega Red with the start of going thru our coinage. I hope this explains it.

Received my mega red book !! Spectacular mint error edition ! Looking forward to reading through it. 33 pages kind of folded over in a section I wont really need. Picture in forums. No big deal, going to enjoy looking through it.

Actually there is one for sale on Davidson auction site. For those who collect they have a copy fro m from 1951 to 1952 120.00 hard copy. . I believe they have the prices of the old ones in the back of every Red Book. This one is in great shape for collectors. This one is from the fourth year.

I am waiting for the book to show up at Barnes. I am frugal, so I will never pay full price. I wait for the 20% off coupons to show up before I buy my copy. I don't buy the book online because I hate to see my book be damaged.

I said in my blog shop around for it you can probably get it for 39.00. I have never herd on this site of any book being damaged during delivery. This can happen with anything shipped. My big book was wrapped in big bubble plastic in great shape. Nothing wrong with being frugle. Just a note this is my sixth year all came wrapped very good in good shape and are still in great shape.. Maybe I have been lucky.

I have the first Mega but that's it. I have run out of room on the bookshelf. Maybe I'll have to move to a house with more bookshelves.

A hardcover copy would be pretty expense.

I almost bought one last year, a guy in my club was selling brand new ones at wholesale price but I like my small one and decided to save the $28. Maybe next year. (:

Awesome book review. I am excited to receive my copy of mega red now. Maybe I will receive it today? You say they have a section on so called dollars? That is awesome, because so called dollars is my new interest. Looking forward to seeing what is listed in mega red. Thanks for the book review. This has really got me going now. Just have to wait for the mail today.

I bought a Mega Red Book two years ago. One of the best investments I've ever made but it's pretty pricy for me. I don't think I will buy another full edition at least until it's ten years old. I had previously bought a small one, but I don't think I'll buy any of those. I agree that it's important to look up market prices before you buy but if you use CDN or the PCGS price lists you will the the most current prices available. Those coins you found were really fun finds and that's the joy for me of collecting out of circulating coins. You never know what you are going to get!

I was against it from the start. But i also know I'm not the only collector. There are many still looking and I always wish them well. There is nothing wrong with collecting what you want. So I hope you find what your looking for. Go get find them!! Mike.
