Hi everyone! There's a good friend of mine that's about seventy nine year's old. Now he grew up in a time when coin's were not only made of silver and gold, but the price's weren't that bad. He also had the good fortune of having a friend who owned a coin store. I call that being born at the right time. He started collecting coins when he was twelve year's old. Who could ask for a better time. Coin's were every where the way he tell's his story. They were in abundance too. So I don't think I have tell you the type of collection he has obtained over the year's. Some times I wish I could go back in time just to see what it was like,,don't you? The price of coin's today compared to the thirtys can not compare. Morgan dollar's were not in the hundred's of thousand's. Quality of all the coin's were beyond reproach. Today to by a roll of mercury dime's is not cheap. Regular coin's for everyday use. Uncirculated Penny's were nice and red. Coins from the nineteenth century were around and as he state's easy to obtain. To collect those coin's then and compare there value today, well I don't know what to say. How many time's have you wished you could go back in time and start to collect. I know I have. That's why so many collectors have such great set's. I often wish my grandfather collected coin's. I can't even imagine what I would have today! The sad fact is my Grandpa didn't collect. Those who had collectios passed down to them are very lucky. To tell the truth I'm jealous. There's nothing wrong with that. They got a head start on the rest of us. To collect with your grandfather must of been special. On the other hand my kids have a good head start. That's what the hobby is about. You enjoy collecting with your kid's and when it's time to say goodbye, you've given them a good start. So would you like to go back in time? Only if I could come back to the present! There had to be a catch. Well give it some thought. Would you go back if you could? Well maybe just for a while. Take care, and it's o.k. to dream what could of been.By for now Mike.
