Coin Star Finds 1 and 2

Coins | slybluenote

Top O’ the morning folks !

The first time I was awakened this morning, 2 puppies were jumping on me and barking to go outside, which was about 3:30 a.m.! When I raised up out of bed an hour later, I thought to myself this would be a good time for some collection maintenance. As a general rule, I’m a fairly organized person, but once in a while I let my jewelers tray get out of hand, so this morning I fixed that small problem. I don’t usually collect foreign money, but living in Central New York I do run across it quite frequently. A few months ago I read a post from one of the YN’s about checking the Coin Star machines which I’ve started doing at the local grocery stores I shop at.

In my living room I have a small glass jug where I throw all the foreign coins that I run across. It has a few loonies, a couple of twonies, but mostly pennies, dimes, nickels, and a few quarters which are mostly Canadian. It’s where most of the coins in the pictures below will end up. I don’t know about the guitar pick yet. Some of these coins are fairly nice looking. If I ever start a Canadian coin collection, this is where I’ll start.

Anyway, I did put some Washington quarters in flips, put the rest in tubes, put away most of the pennies, nickels, and dimes in tubes to be “checked in” to my spreadsheet at a later date. The results are clearly visible in the picture below, and it looks like it’s supposed to! I just wanted to throw in my two cents today…lol. Looking at the American coins, they’re mostly in pretty bad shape and is probably why they were rejected. There were only 4 of them, 2 nickels, 1 dime, and 1 Lincoln cent.

Enjoy the pictures and as always stay safe, HEALTHY, and coronavirus free!

That's a great thing to do in the morning while the rest of the house sleeps. I've been hearing of some nice Coin Star finds but have yet to check them out for myself. Thanks for the motivation!

Reconsider collecting those Canadians; nice designs and you are in a great spot to get your hands on lots of them! Thanks for the blog Charlie. Did the guitar pick come from the coin star too? Too bad it wasn't silver!

Nice blog today Charlie. Not a bad haul. We get quite a few Canadian coins here as the "Snow Birds' hit Palm Springs. Nice job organizing. Thanks Buddy.
