Going Pro........... ish. (and asking for VAM identification)
| A.J.
hey again! sorry for being inactive for a while, not much has been happening. anyways, ive gotten the ability to make more professional photos of coins...... kinda. ive recently came back upon a USB webcam, usually used for stop-motion, and have gotten the idea to use it to photo coins, in a more professional way. sadly, i can't focus, so i wont be able to capture coins larger than a half dollar without getting blurry. also, ive been able to take better photos of that MS peace dollar with it. i dont really know how to identify VAMS, so i guess ill also ask for one of you guys to identify it. thanks in advance, Andrew

Not bad. As you've mentioned, improvement comes with the number taken.

Well, first off take it out of the holder. Then you sit down with a good light and a loupe. Don't go crazy with the magnification. Now grab about a thousand more coins and get practice. I recommend working on coins already authenticated. Go to this web site for hints. Good luck. By the way Peace Dollar collectors are called Dark Side by the Morgan VAM'ers. There is no quick and easy way. Just have to grind it out. By the way 1922 has some of the most possible VAMs. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/Home

Funny you say that, i just took them out befire you commented. Mike said to take them out becuase of the stables irritating the coin.

Photos often turn out better if you remove them from the 2X2s. That way you eliminate some of the glare. But, Definitely, your photos have improved quite a bit.

Wow. The pics are getting better. I think the Peace Dollar is cool, but I don't dive too deep into error types. An easy way to find an error (albeit valuable) is to look at the front. I am too cheap for many errors, but still enjoy them. Just not enough :-). Fodder

Vams aren't errors, they are varieties... Just wanted to correct that. ; )

Try seeing if the plastic ring around the lenses on the Stopmotion camera rotate. That is how mine focuses and maybe yours does this way as well. Nice looking coins, especially the two-cent. Sorry, but I can't be of any help as far as vams go, I know like 0 about them.

If you have a cell phone just take the picture and send it to your email. . It shows up a few seconds later. Make sure you crop it and its in focus before you send it. Perfect all the time.
