School Writing About Nickels

| CMCC

To finish my English book, the last lesson was to do write or paragraph or three of a certain topic. I would like to support the hobby by writing this, so that if anyone who does not collect reads it, he may get into it. The writing is as follows:

Semi-Key Collecting, Part I

Coins | CMCC

One way that I like to build my collection is by Semi-Key Collecting. Instead of getting all the common dates, I like to buy slightly rarer dates. I don't get extremely common dates, like the 1936 Buffalo nickel, or extremely rare dates, like the 1885 Liberty Nickel, but I get mid-mintage dates, like the 1894 Liberty Nickel.

Sold! 5 Jefferson Nickels and 24 Wheat Cents!

Coins-United States | CMCC

My past blog (actually two blogs ago) was about Type Set Collecting, and yet I haven't gotten a single new coin for it yet. I decided to sell some extras on eBay and use the money to buy some new coins. I put 3 lots up for sale: A lot of 5 Jefferson Nickels (1938, 1939-S, 1942-D, 1943-S, 1944-P) at auction. I started it at $3.31 ($0.99 + $2.32 shipping), and it ended at $11.32, but shipping and fees were $3.42, so I made $7.90. Also, I had a lot of 24 Wheat Cents, including 1913, 1925-S, 1929, 1937 AU, 1938 Unc, and 1941 BU. This one, unfortunately, was bought at its starting price: $7.31, so fees brought it down to $3.71.

Type Set Collecting

Coins-United States | CMCC

I have made my decision for 2015: I will focus on making an 'Ungraded Amateur Type Set,' in which coins may be ungraded, and coins may not be worth over $100, unless I manage to get an amazing deal. This means that I will not get Liberty Cap Half Cents and Large Cents, 1864 Small Motto Two Cent, Flowing Hair and Draped Bust Half Dimes, Dimes, Quarters, and Half Dollars, I will not get Twenty-Cent pieces or pre-morgan silver dollars. Nor will any gold be included.

Three Badges That No One Has.

Exonumia | CMCC

I enjoy looking at badges and trying to get a certain one. Currently, it is the Black Diamond Badge, which requires 5 blogs that contain the tag 'Buffalo Nickel,' I want this for three reasons:

How I got my 1913 Buffalo Nickel

Coins-United States | CMCC

I was relatively new to buying and selling coins on eBay. I found a roll of so called 'dateless' buffalo nickels. I saw a bold 1918 on one, I saw 1935, 1928, and 1920 on some. I won the lot for $10.00. When it arrived, I found a VF buffalo nickel, 1935-S, 1928-S, 1927-D, and 1920 buffalo nickels, and a dateless 1913-S Type 1 buffalo nickel. I was so tempted to keep it, but made up my mind to sell it, and I did, for $6.00. When I received the money, I bought a higher-grade 1913-D Type 1 for $2 off of eBay; so I made $2.50 profit and a buffalo nickel from that one. The 1913-S was PO-1 or FR-2, but the 1913-D was AG-3 to G-4. Pictured is the reverse of the coin.
