For this whole year, I have been searching eBay for a good deal on a good Classic Head Large Cent, which is the toughest 19th century large cent to obtain. Finally, I found a beautiful 1812 large cent. I only had $15.33 for my own collection, and the bids frightened me: $5.00, $7.00, $9.00, $13.00, and then $26.01. Miss. My other one on my watchlist was an AG 1810 with not-so-bad pitting. $0.99, $2.99, $4.00, $5.50. It was ending tonight, but it was time for bed, and there were still 3 hours. I put a final bid of $7.50, and went to bed. In the morning, I had won it at my max bid of $7.50!

That is a bargain for that price. Sure it's not the best grade, but it's a great coin. Sometimes coins like this become some of your favorites just for the story and the interesting part of finding it.

Nice pickup! I get tempted to just find Buy It Now coins that I see, but I really should wait for those unnoticed auctions
