1975 Spain 1 Peseta Coin
This beautiful coin was minted and launched in 1975. Two days after Francisco Franco's death Juan Carlos I de Borbón became king of Spain, the exact date was November 22, 1975 and his reign lasted until 2014 when he abdicated in favor of his son Felipe VI now king. The image of Juan Carlos I is on the obverse of this peseta coin facing left, and the beautiful Coat of Arms of the Nation bearing elements of royalty is on the reverse.
The currency of Spain has been called the peseta since 1868 when it substituted the peso which was used since early 15th century. The peseta remained the national currency until 2002 when Spain adopted the Euro for all transactions.
Nice and attractive, my coin is eagerly sought because its minted in the year the Spaniards had a new king again since 1931.
In my own words.
