2010 Wyoming Yellowstone ATB Quarter
This magnificent US Quarter Series program started in April, 2010. The second issued quarter was this great Yellowstone Park coin in June 2010.
The extension of this park is impressive. The park covers 3,472 square miles. Even though the official address is to the state of Wyoming, some portions of land fall within the boundaries of neighboring states. The majority of Yellowstone (96%) is in Wyoming. A small section of the park (3%) to the north and northwest is in Montana. And a small section of the park (1%) to the West is in Idaho. This reknown Park was founded on March 1, 1872 as a National Site.
The quarter's reverse was designed to depict a scenic glance of one of the Park's attractions: Old Faithful geyser and an image of a Bison.
Beautiful Wyoming entered the Federation on July 10, 1890.

The ATB series was a great extension of the 50 State Quarter program, just not as wildly popular as the mint would have liked. Some of the National sites’ designs, like this one, are genuinely beautiful and intriguing.
