In this very significant 10 Pesos Banknote's obverse the face depiction of Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla appears as a symbol of how the Mexican Nation came to be. Father Hidalgo was born in 1753 and died in 1811. Beyond being a Catholic Priest, he was a military leader, an inspiration to his peers in matters of political freedom and, the voice who openly called upon Mexicans to fight for independence from Spain. The Dolores Cathedral is shown on the bill's reverse. This landmark is located in Guanajuato, Mexico. From this place, at the pulpit, Father Hidalgo launched his independence revolutionary call.
