1972 Costa Rica 50 Céntimos Coin

Beautiful Costa Rica issued this nice 50 céntimos coin a little over fifty years ago. The currency of this gorgeous Central American Republic is called the "Colón" honoring the Discoverer of America Christopher Columbus (Cristóbal Colón.)The Colón was introduced in Costa Rica in 1896 officially by the Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR in Spanish) which was organized and founded as a financial institution in 1858.The nice coin presents the National Coat of Arms which brings the situation of the Republic located between two main oceans: the Pacific and the Atlantic, and so gives within features of the land of three extinct volcanoes and heraldry tied to Spain, this all on the coin's obverse.The coin's reverse brings the denomination at center with the issuing institution at the bottom border, together with the location of the Republic plus the year of issue.

1987 Mexico 500 Pesos Coin

The design of this large type coin brings the National Coat of Arms of Mexico on its obverse, with its legendary eagle killing a serpent. The coin's reverse shows the image of President Francisco Madero. A short-lived presidency, Madero successfully took over Porfirio Díaz government to try to enhance the Nation's democratic stability. His term lasted from November 1911 to February 1913.The coin is impressive for its design of yet modern and conservative style. It is minted with the known symbol of $ besides the denomination of 500 "pesos" and the usage of this familiar symbol should not be confused with the US Dollar notation mark.
