Fun Fact
The first American coin in circulation was minted in 1787 and was designed by Benjamin Franklin. It consisted of 0.36 Oz of copper and was larger than today's pennies. It is called the Fugio cent. Instead of having the words, "in god we trust" it read, "we are one." On the front it said, "mind your business" and featured a sun dial.

Wooooow! Great coin, admirable and quite historical, I wonder how many of our collectors would love to have it. A design unique for its time and that sample is in great shape, such valuable treasure that you own. Never give up.

Hi. It was made at the Sovill mint. Its called a cent. Penny's are English. There is no coin with the word penny. They are called cents to show the difference. We had our independence and they didn't want the same names as the English coinage. It was the first coin authorized by our government! It says United States. I have one but the condition isn't good. They were stored in barrels under Leakey pipes. Thanks for the blog.. Knowledge is the door to learning about coins s. We have a saying buy the book before you buy the coin.
