Cleaning and Preservation of Coins and Medals Book Review

Coins | The Coin Student

This book is about how to properly clean and store coins. Author Sanford J. Durst gives helpful tips on cleaning several different types of coins and alloys. He talks about the different types of metals used to make coins and how they chemically change such as oxidation, tarnishing,  corrosion, "diseased metals" and much more. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to casually clean a coin that is relatively inexpensive. I would recommend if you have a investment type coin that you get it cleaned by a professional service for peace of mind. This book is very precise in how you clean coins so maybe it would not hurt to try it on an inexpensive coin like a cheap Lincoln Cent or something like that.
