Book Review: A Guide Book of Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents

In the book "A Guide Book of Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents" author Richard Snow describes the complete history of these coins.  He also list the pricing of these coins by date, luster, and grade.  Besides pricing the book contains an abundance of high quality photos and even ways to detect counterfeiting.  As a bonus, in the book there is a biography of the designer of the Indian Head and Flying Eagle Cents, James Barton Longacre.  With this said, Snow is a well know expert on these coins, so it is only fitting for him to write this exclusive "Red Book".  It's a great book to read for any numismatists interest in the Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents.

The Indian Head design has graced the obverse of a few United States coins throughout its years in circulation.  Some were made in the image of Liberty and others were truly Native Americans.  While there are four different designs (the Indian Head design has been on the obverse of the quarter eagle and the half eagle) all of them are unique in their own way.  So without further ado, here is a very brief history of the four Indian Head designs in American coinage.
