A Blues Song and an Announcement
I was listening to David Bromberg singing " The Walking Blues" last weekend and came up with this inspiration. Hope you like it Sky Blue Note!
The Numismatic Blues
Well I woke up this morning, and I rolled out the bed
Well I woke up this morning and I rolled out of that nice warm bed.....
I got out my collection and looked at what I had.
I said I got out all of them old coins and began to feel so sad
Holes in too many albums. It made me be feelin' terrible sad
TOO Many holes in them albumsand I done began to cry.
Key dates missin- only a few CC's I have
No Flowing Hair half dollar or a Pine Tree Shilling to be had.
Oh them Indian Head Cents, you know I want them all
Them red brown Indians, I gots to get them all
But I'll settle for some three cent nickels or a cool trime for a few dollars more
So I went down to the dealer, he knew what was on my mind
you know my old dealer man, he knew what was on my mind. And this is what he said to me,
and Lawd, the man be so unkind!
"Dude, you can't get no more Flying EaglesCause yo credit be so bad!
Pay off! Pay off! the installments that you have
No more layaways for you, till you come across with all that cash and then I promise you, I'll get you into a more expensive payment plan!"
So I went to go see that banker, and he gave me a personal loan.
That greedy old banker, he gave me a very personal loan and when I saw all that Vigor, I began to sigh and moan
But I'm all eaten up with them nasty Numismatic Blues,
Clean down to my bones, with them filthy Numismatic Blues.
Then I ran down to my old dealer man, paid off that debt and bought some Coronet Cents too!

And now for my announcement: As of January 10th I am UNretired. I kind of feel like Michael Corleone... "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" I've always felt that when I became a psychotherapist my talents are a gift from God. Well God isn't done with me yet. I was offered an opportunity to work for a psychiatrist in the area who offered me a significant raise and a much more enjoyable work environment than my previous employer, so what can I say? My retirement only lasted 6 months and I did therapy part time, but found I wasn't able to buy any of the coins I have my sight set on. SOO, it was a no brainer. Best of all I got my old schedule back that my former employer took away from me. Monday through Thursday, four nine hour days. Every Friday Saturday and Sunday off. Works for me!

I’m impressed with your lyrics buddy! Great concept and congrats on your “new found” employment! The thought has previously also crossed my mind, but only for a fleeting moment 😳…!

I actually saw David Bromberg in Charlottesville in 1977 at U. VA in old Cabell Hall. I had ticket #3. Hitchhiked from Bridgewater College and spent the weekend and hitched my way back! Those were the days!

Original Blues, Howlin' Wolf. More modern, sixties British influence, John Mayall and Freddie Robinson. A blog with a twist, sweet!

Very well done. Thank you for that. I have had the blues in collecting. But it lasted two months. I saw a coin I was back. They say it happens to all of us one time or another. As far as debt. The wife would not let it happen. I like the whole concept. I really enjoyed it.

Lots of exaggeration there, but that's what makes the Blues so cool!
