2020 W Quarters A Review, Guide, and Some Facts

Coins | CheerioCoins

I looked back on an old W quarter blog and thought it could use a redo. This blog is the second and is about the 2020 West Point mint quarters. In 2020, they put a V75 Privy Mark for the 75th Aniversary of the end of WWII. Enjoy!

2020 National Park, American Samoa West Point Mint Quarter: There were 2,000,000 of this coin minted and was the first design minted. It was designed by Richard Masters who also designed the Salt River Bay 2020 quarter. The design depicts a mother Somoan fruit bat with its baby in a cave. The design creates awareness for the Somoan fruit bat which is endangered due to hunting and loss of its natural habitat. There are lots of crazy theories about this coin like"Did the government know about Covid-19 beforehand?" (Because it's rumored to have been a bat that started Covid) and "Did they pick this design because of Covid-19?" It's just all absurd.

2020 Weir Farm, Connecticut West Point Mint Quarter: There were 2,000,000 minted just like all the other W quarters and this is a design I've found in circulation. It was designed by Justin Kunz. The design depicts an artist with a smock, painting pallet, and a paintbrush. He is painting by Julian Alden Weir's art studio at the Weir Farm. The design says "A NATIONAL PARK FOR ART ''. I do like this design because I am an artist and like to paint.

2020 Salt River Bay, U.S. Virgin Islands West Point Mint Quarter: There were 2,000,000 minted just like all of them and this is one of the designs I have found in circulation. I do tend to find a lot of the Philadelphia mint ones in circulation and that's not surprising since there were 580,200,000 minted compared to the 125,600,000 minted of the Weir Farm and the 286,000,000 minted of the National Park, American Samoa. It was designed by Richard Masters just like the American Samoa National Park quarter. The design depicts a Mangrove tree and intend to bring awareness since the Mangrove trees are endangered.

2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller, Vermont West Point Mint Quarter: There we're also 2,000,000 and this is the only W quarter design I've found twice. It was designed by Donna Weaver. The coin depicts a young girl planting a spruce tree seedling. The girl represents conservationists seeking to keep the forest going. I really like the design because because I am one who loves nature and I think it was a great idea to show how the trees keep the lifecycle going.

2020 Tallgrass Prairie,Kansas West Point Mint Quarter: There we're also 2,000,000 minted and is one of the few designs I have not found. It was designed by Emily Damstra who has designed many coins including the Type II ASE and the Maya Angelou quarter. The coin depicts a Regal Fritillary butterfly flying over a Praire, which represents the Tallgrass Praire. I also like this design because it has wildlife and I like how the design is chill and relaxed.

Thanks for reading my blog and have a great day!

On the subject of the Covid Quarter as they have become labeled, not a chance that this is even remotely true. The United States Mint put out it's press release for the 2020 quarter program on August 13, 2019 which included the images of the forthcoming coins. When you stop and think about the actual artists who design these and the time required to do so, we can easily add on another six months. So to "predict" a pandemic a full year in advance is clearly absurd.

Yeah, that’s why I wrote it was completely absurd.

Thanks for the reminder, the majority of the W mintmarked coins are still out there, but I have yet to find one.

Yeah, but the low mintage makes them pretty hard to find.
