YN Auction Review #2, February 2022
This is the second review of the YN Auction that I started at the beginning of 2022. For today’s review we have an interesting selection of coins. Only one of which I was super interested in and bided on. It was the only coin that really appealed to me but maybe you will see one other one that you like. Anyway let’s start the review!
The first coin of Lot 1# for this months auction is the 1941-D Wheat Cent, Choice Brilliant Uncirculated Red. This coin doesn’t really appeal to me because I already have one that is maybe nit Choice BU but I’d close. It has no reserve but I don’t really know how much people are willing to bid on it. Who knows really? There were 129.7 million minted which is about the average minting for the early wheaties. I would say it’s about MS-65 which will give it a price of about $11.00 I know people will disagree with that grade but I’m no professional grader and it’s just a picture.
The second coin or Lot #2 which is always a World coin and not a U.S. coin. This time it was a 1926-Mo Mexico Five Cents, Choice Extremely Fine (Toned). It has this weird bluish toning that almost looks like dirt. This one also didn’t really appeal to me since I don’t collect many World coins. I mean the design is nice but it just isn’t my thing. It has a reserve of $40 YN dollars which I think is reasonable for it. I looked around and found it was worth about $5.50 in a Fine grade but maybe a little more with the toning but the grade isn’t great.
The third coin or Lot #3 always seems to be the best and only one I usually bid on. This month it was the 1947-D Liberty Walking Half Dollar, NGC Very Fine 20. It has a reserve of $50 YN dollars but I bided higher than that because it’s not going to go for just 50. Also it is graded by NGC which is my personal favorite of the grading services and it’s the most trusted by most collectors. But of course it’s the coin not the case! It is a Liberty Walking Half so if I win it it will be my first Liberty Walking Half for my collection. It’s a pain to get them in good condition so this will be a good start for my first one. I really love the reverse design and the obverse will later be on the ASE’s which I like. It only has 3.9 minted and is 90% Silver. The price is around $10.28 in my December 2021 Greysheet. The coin is the last one of the set but is still a beauty!
Thanks for reading my blog and have a great rest of your day!

The half is the best deal there definitely. Although I just love slabbed coins so I am little biased.

You have good taste. I'd go for the half as well if that's all your budget allows at the time.
