YN Auction Review #3, March 2022

Coins | CheerioCoins

Happy March everyone I hope you are all doing well! We've just started to get into the month so of course, I came back to do my third 2022 YN auction review. Each of the coins this auction were great as always and all of them I bided a little on. I still haven't gotten an update on the Walker but it should come soon. Anyway, hope you enjoy!

The first coin or lot #1 is a1944-D Silver Wartime Jefferson Nickel and is a Doubled Die Obverse #2 and has a grade of Choice Uncirculated. This coin has a reserve of 20 YN Dollars. I can't see the doubling super well but it is there. This is a coin that I did bid on as I bided a little bit on all the auction lots. It is a nice doubled coin, has a great grade, and is 35% silver. I'd say this coin is around MS64 or MS65 but again, I'm no professional grader and that's just a photo I'm looking at. I don't really know the price to this coin because of the grade and it's doubled but if I were to say I'd say it's around $50. Source: Common Knowledge

The second coin or Lot #2 is always a world coin and this time is a1907 Panama 1/2 Centesimo, Doubled Die Obverse and is in a Uncirculated grade. This coin isn't my favorite of the lots and I'm not that much into world coins so this isn't the best lot in my opinion but maybe it is to you. It's not made of silver or anything but is75% Copper, 25% Nickel. It's worth around $15 on Ebay. Sources:https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces5260.htmlandhttps://www.ebay.com/

This third coin, or final, or Lot #3 which is always something graded and is usually the best lot is a Toned1970-S Roosevelt Dime, PCGS (Oldre Generation Holder) Proof-66. This is probably my favorite lot of Marches different lots. The toning is nice on the bottom which is nice. The holder is older but I'm not buying the coin for the holder, I'm buying it for the coin. It has a composition of75% Copper, 25% Nickel. Ithas a grade of PF66 which makes it around $10 on Ebay and when you add the toning it gives is a numismatic value of about $14 I'd say but again, I'm no professional coin pricer. Tell me your thought and which is your favorite! Thanks for reading my blog and have a great day!

I like the art and design on the Panama coin obverse. The Jefferson Nickel looks really nice - wish the photo was better.

That coin guy my friend has learned allot since he got here. I agree with him.

I would disagree with your price evaluation on the DDO nickel, I would do a little more research. The toning on the dime is nice, but PF-66 is a little low for a modern clad dime.

Okay, but I could find a price anywhere.

There are times, that for a collector, choices appear and he would like to obtain all items but I've always said that each step taken gets you into a test for decision making, I've said as well that age and time will bring you a long nice path.

In my opinion all (acquired coins) are important for a collector, because you have a variety for selection and that makes you valuable as well. Great blog.

Those are some nice auction lots. I like the Jefferson, and your assumption of an MS64/65 would seem appropriate. Now the dime, my personal favorite denomination, being in an old green "rattler" adds another premium to the market value as these are becoming scarce and highly collected on their own.

Good blog. I would go with the war nickel. I do however like Balboa coins. Especially the silver ones. Thanks for your review.

Like $tarCollector, I also like the U.S. coins. Since I’m starting a collection of nickels, my favorite is the war time Jefferson. You picked up some great pieces for your collection. Thanks for sharing them with us!

These aren’t for my collection…

I prefer the US coins.
