OMG OMG OMG I’M GONNA DIE

Young Numismatists Exchange | thatcoinguy

OMG YOU GUYS! JUST FOUND A 1982-D SMALL DATE LINCOLN CENT. NOTHING SPECIAL RIGHT? IT WEIGHS 3.12 GRAMS. IT'S THE RARE AND HIGHLY VALUABLE TRANSITIONAL ERROR. ALL SMALL DATE LINCOLN CENTS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ZINC, BUT FOR SOME REASON 2 (NOW 3) WERE STRUCK ON COPPER. THIS IS A 8-10K COIN. I DON'T BELIVE IT. I WEIGHED IT LIKE THREE TIMES TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T DREAMING. I SUBMITTED IT TO NGC, BUT I DON'T THINK SOMEONE WOULD COUNTERFEIT IT SND THROW IT INTO CIRCULATION. TWO MINUTES AFTER I WROTE THE BEGINNING OF THIS BLOG: JUST GOT WORD FROM NGC. OFFICIALLY AUTHENTIC. THEY'RE SENDING THE SLAB BACK NOW VIA OVERNIGHT MAIL. I'M GOING CRAZY. STILL HAVEN'T DECIDED WETHER TO SELL IT OR TO KEEP IT.

STRUCK IT RICH WITH POCKET CHANGE,

P.S. APRIL FOOLS

Wow i almost believed it... the fact that ngc was sending it back so quickly was suspicious though lol

I was looking on the NGC census, good April fools joke.

Good one! The U.S. mint webpage could have tons of fun on April Fool's day if you think about it: They could open ordering on something and shut it down it down hours later. Wait a minute - it's been done!

Haha. I was thinking they could put up an announcement that they are releasing special collector coin versions of the new commems, except they have fingerprints all over them!

LOL, after I thought about it, I thought it was an April Fools joke, now it's confirmed and I was fooled (initially). (:

There are many cents that were made in 1982. Mostly zink. But many coppers also. The way you know is by weight and you did that. The DD is great. But there are millions of these. P.S April fools!! Good one my friend!.
