Update #14: My Famous Last Words (PART 2?!)

Young Numismatists Exchange | thatcoinguy

Hello fellow YNs and YNH!

So, if you follow my blogs regularly, you know I posted a roll searching recap for the year, thinking I wouldn't find anything else major for the year. And then I found the Lowell W quarter. Well, I guess that roll searching is saying to me "We aren't done with you for the yet!" because I got lucky. Again. Read on.

So, I've been doing some more roll searching since Update #13, with two hauls of rolls of mixed denominations, with a total of about 70 rolls. So, on the 9th of December, I was searching some customer wrapped quarter rolls that were part of the amount mentioned above, and guess what. I found, yes, another W quarter. My luck hasn't run out for this year yet. It's a 2020, which is a first for me (my previous other two were 2019s), and it's pretty dirty. I think somebody probably spilled something on the obverse, because the reverse is (mostly) untouched. There is some nice toning on Washington's hair, so that's nice.

Another roll hunt earlier today produced some nice finds as well. Some 60s s mint nickels, an ATB quarter I needed (I only need four more of the Denvers to have a complete set from both mints), and some other stuff not worth the blog space to tell you about. However! There was one really notable find in the roll, and that was a really nice unlisted (at least on Variety Vista) DDO on a 2019-P Lowell quarter. I was practically drooling on my I-pad when I got a nice shot of it. Anyways, enjoy the pics, and keep your eye out for these! I wonder how many there are since I haven't heard of them yet. Let me know what you think in the comments!

In other news, I went to another meeting of MCCA (Metropolitan Coin Club of Atlanta) on the first Saturday of the month. I won a 1950 silver Roosevelt Dime in the door prize raffle (for more on Roosevelt Dimes, see my blog which also came out today if you read this on 12/11/21!), and had lots of fun. I did the program for the meeting, which was actually pretty fun (consider doing the program for YOUR local club! It's fun!), and that was the meeting "Bill Fivaz's Treasure Chest" was auctioned off. Learn more from my double eagle blog I published on 12/4/21!

If you haven't noticed, the ANA's main page tells you about a very important event happening the week of December 13-18. It's similar to the Great American Coin Hunt (a subject of a future blog...?) where coin dealers dump collectible coins into circulation. Merc dimes, Buffalo nickels, you collect it, it goes in circulation. Also, December 18th is Free Coin Day, so visit your local participating dealer to get your free coin on December 18th! Keep collecting,

I agree with Mokie, that quarter is fairly beat up, but like you indicated, a W quarter is still a W quarter! Nice find and thanks for sharing your experience with your club !

Nice finds! Not the best 2020-W. Too bad in 2022 the W’s will be scarce and i’m betting by 2025 there will bealy be any left in circulation since so many people search for them. Good luck!

It's Mokie

Wow, that is a butt ugly W but still a treasure. Hope your luck holds in 2021.

Hey, a W quarter is a W quarter. But yeah, for a 2020 quarter, it is pretty tarnished.
