Penny Hunt Finds and Recent Purchases | Coin Update #49
Hello all and welcome to another blog!
As I mentioned in the last one, this blog will be about the finds of a recent penny box hunt along with two purchases.
I’ll start out by talking about the purchases. The two coins are both PCGS gold shield and I won them both on GreatCollections for really good prices. The first one is a nice blue toned 1963 PR-66 dime that I got for $15. This coin has really cool toning and is the second blue roosie dime that I have purchased—making me start to considering starting a blue toned dime registry set (since I really like the look of blue toning). This would cut down my options as far as purchasing toned dimes considerably—allowing me to gradually build the set. Anyways, the second coin that I won is my first type 2 silver eagle—a 2021 MS-69. I can’t believe I won this coin for so cheap—about $40—considering that it has gold shield and it is a full ounce of silver.
Alright, now for the cent box finds. First up I’ll share the typical finds. I found 9 wheat cents (which is actually more than usual), 6 Canadians, 13 2009’s (which may be a record for me), and two S mints. Next, the varieties. I actually found my second ever wide AM; my first ever 1998 wide AM! Next, I found several nice die clashed shield cents (I also found a few more than the ones pictured, but they aren’t have obvious): a 2020, a 2017-P (that actually has a bit of UNUM visible next to his bowtie) a 2021, and a 2016. I also found several doubled die shield cents and some doubled die memorial cents. I found an 2021-D WDDR-003 (with a little doubling on the shield), an unlisted 2021 DDR, a 2020-P WDDO-001, a 2016 WDDO-004, a 2013 WDDR-002 (with insane doubling on the initials), and a 2003 WDDR-034 memorial cent (with nice doubling on the column and a bit of doubling on Abraham Lincoln’s leg). I also found multiple more memorial cents from 1998-2006 with doubling on the columns, but since there are so many of these (literally hundreds—maybe even a couple thousand all together) I’m not going to bother attributing all of them.
Alright, so that’s the end of this blog—let’s talk briefly about what the next blog will be about. Okay, so tomorrow (Thursday) I am going to hopefully be picking up 2 dime boxes, a box of nickels, and another box of cents. If all goes well, I should have a blog (or two; or three) out about the finds within the next couple of weeks (I have a lot going on this week and the next, so it might not be till after these two weeks—but we’ll see).
Anyways, thanks for reading my blog, enjoy the pics, and as always, have a great day!

Love the dime and Type II ASE! I got my Type II ASE for $30 raw, a steal of a deal. Nice roll hunting finds too. Thanks for sharing!

Sure is! And to think I only paid $10 more to get one that was in a slab (plus it was in GoldShield slab). Thanks for the comment!

I literally have tens of thousands of cents, in several five gallon water bottles and far too many 3 pound coffee cans to count that I've tossed in there over many years. You roll hunting guys are going to have me breaking out the old man eye. That would be a lighted magnifier to you youngsters.

Cool, I'd like to know what lurks in that amount of cents!

Great finds. I don’t sort cents often because I mainly just get 2021 mint wrapped rolls, but this has inspired me to search around a bit for some circulates rolls to hunt! Can’t wait for the next finds.

Thanks, ya, at least I don't live in Michigan--they're supposed to get a lot more since they're close to the border. Thanks for the comment!
