Not Lost and not forgotten

Coins | user_9894

Well here I am again. I seem to have been lost in the vacuum of covid. Hope you are all well.I wanted to reduce some extra coins I had from the death of my father and decided to get a table at a local coin show. I knew it was a risk to take, but I was able to sell 4  Lots of foreign coins that I never thought I would get rid of. It paid for the table and I told them i would be back the following month. That time , I brought  a group of Silver quarters and halves and I did much better.I will try again in January. It was a pleasant surprise to recoup some of the lost wealth accumulated in many ordinary coins.

1913 5c & National Money Show

Coins | user_9894

I had the pleasure of attending the National Money Show yesterday, the 29th of March, in Pittsburgh, PA. I found it to be interesting, informative and a bit different than what I expected. The ANA had several displays with some of the rare celebrity coins on display such as the 1804 Dollar and the 1913 5c. Abe Lincoln was there talking to the attendees about how history repeats itself etc. The US Mint was in attendance as well. The coin dealer tables were about 90% filled with plenty to peruse and purchase. I surveyed the tables and found  that silver dollars and gold coins to be the most present for sale. Early coppers were well represented as well as currency.Had a fun time .

Today I found a 2009D Jefferson Nickel

Coins | user_9894

After a week of looking at over 1000 nickels, I found 1 and only one, 2009 Jefferson nickel and that was from the Denver mint. Even though more than 86 million were put into circulation. It is hard to believe that, that many are so hard to find after only 8 years. The two photos of the complete coin were taken with my D600 camera with tube extensions on it, while the other photos were taken with my digital industrial inspection microscope. I could have gotten in even closer, but I was in pushing it today. Still learning how to adjust for focus, lighting, etc. I will publish my camera setup as soon as I can.
