Scanning currency

Paper Money - United States | user_9894

I read with interest, Longstrider's blog, about the scan of his currency. I know a bit about scanners and feel that I can help him save some money. Most scanners can be adjusted to scan at different ppi (pixels per inch and different resolutions for the type of document to be scanned. I scanned this $5 bill using 1200 ppi and then had to cut the resolution to upload it to the blog. It still looks great. I'm using a "free" HP printer with scanning abilities. It is one of the cheapest they make. The model is a HP Deskjet F4480.
