Question on Numismatist article submissions

Has anyone here sent articles to the ANA for publication in the numismatist, and had them published? I am thinking about submitting an article and would appreciate any advice that can be given. Thanks!

But there months in advance.I do not know of any one personally who has been successful. I wish you luck.

smaller publications like the PAN Club's CLARION or the CONECA ErrorScope will take submissions and publish.  I know people on this site that have had articles published in both and probably many more smaller clubs or smaller organizations, the Numismatist would probably be tried after getting some experiences with smaller publications.

Thank you to everyone for the suggestions!

I've had quite a few submitted and published. The editors are great and will work with you concerning the article's size and content if they feel it deserves and audience. My best advice is write about something you know, or better yet, pick a subject that has not been previously covered or that would add significant new information.

The only publication I've had an article published in was Coin World back in 2012 if my memory serves me correctly. However, I've been working on one for the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatics (PAN) publication, The Clarion. Generally speaking, the submission requirements are similar across the board. Since I make it a point to read your blogs as they appear I'll be sure to explore an upcoming article in the Numismatist, of which I receive monthly by mail. All the best.

I will have an article published in the Numismatist sometime this Fall, it was submitted in January but they are backed up with potential articles, hence the delay.  I was surprised that they actually offer pay for submitted articles but I opted to refuse that and let the Numismatist publish my article for free.  I had warmed up for the Numismatist by having articles published in the Gobrecht Journal, the Clarion, and Errorscope (2).  I will be writing more in the Clarion as we have instituted a new section devoted to YNs and I will do the intros and recruit subjects for interview.  So far we have interviewed Lianna Spurrier and will soon be interviewing Kenneth Sammut.  Both of them are graduated YNs that are already having a significant impact on our hobby.  I will also be soliciting one of the YNs that post here regularly for a future issue.
