A Foreign Steel Cent

The same planchet used to make the 1943 Steel Cents were also used by the US Mint to produce 2 Franc coins for Belgium in 1944.  So a proper set of Steel Cents might include the 2 Franc coin.   Prices are very reasonable, maybe pick one up.

Interesting. It would really be bizarre if they accidentally struck a few in copper.

I used to find these in junk boxes. I never heard of an off-metal strike, not yet anyway.

 I wouldn't be surprised if someone had copper-plated a few for that reason...
