Advice for selling a large collection?

Does anyone have any ideas about what to do with a large collection of world coins? (about 14,000 mounted in sleeves and recorded in a database, and many more loose in containers). My uncle passed away recently and left a large collection. A coin dealer said most foreign coins get melted down these days, but I hate to see his life's work dispatched that way!

If you need to sell them, I suggest an auction firm or a large dealer.

I appreciate the suggestion - if you have any recommendations I'd very interested. Thanks!

If you’re interested in selling the collection, before you do anything, I’d highly recommend that you pick up a copy of The Coin Collector’s Survival Manual by Scott A. Travers. It has a detailed how-to and comparison for different methods of selling coins. By the way, about how many loose coins in containers would you estimate?
